iDat – Privacy notice
The iDat information system is owned by the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv). It offers both provision of meta information on scientific research projects as well as event management functionality. All data collected in iDat is handeld according to the data privacy laws of the German federal states Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia.
1. Data Collection and Use:
iDat collects name, title and email address to provide basic services to its users as signing up or
email communication. All further personally identifiable information such as professional homepage,
age-group, gender or work address is requested case-by-case only if extended services like event
registration, reimbursement of travel costs or accomodation reservation require said information.
The collected data will not be used for any other purposes without the explicit consent of the user.
2. Data Security:
iDiv is committed to ensuring the security of the data we collect through iDat. We implement
appropriate physical, technical, and organizational measures to safeguard the information we
collect from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction.
3. Data Sharing:
We do not sell or rent any user information to third parties. We may share collected personally
identifiable information with accomodation providers, if accomodation is specifically requested by
the user. We do not share collected personally identifiable information with any other parties.
Aggregated information that is not personally identifiable such as gender balance will be used for
reporting purposes towards iDiv's funding bodies.
4. User Rights:
Users have the right to access, correct, delete, or object to the processing of their personal data.
We provide users with the means to exercise these rights through iDat.
5. Data Retention:
We retain user data for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected or
as required by law. When the data is no longer necessary, we securely delete or anonymize it.
6. Policy Updates:
We reserve the right to update this policy as necessary to reflect changes in our practices or legal
requirements. Users will be notified of any significant changes to this policy through iDat or other
appropriate means.
By using iDat, users agree to this data policy and consent to the collection and use of their personal data as outlined in this policy.
